my pirate moleskine is coming along great so far in molyX78…
finished. wish i would have kept her hair as more of a golden brown… was much better color contrast.
oh well, live and learn. mailing this out tomorrow, while i’m waiting on my next book from my molyX groups, i’m going to work on an entry or two in my sketchbook project moleskine. that thing is due january 1st…
well if practice makes perfect i definitely need more practice. i was okay with what i ended up doing for her hair and actually really liked how the blue water shapes were looking until i colored them… i’m not used to the markers i used and they totally bled past my outlines so i had to do a little reconstruction…
the flash picked up some of my original pencil sketch and made some of the metallic silver sharpie parts look a little weird, but all in all this is how it looks right now.
drawing the mouth, little more color and maybe adding something else to the background then i’m done.
i just decided to make my sketchbook an accordion fold (japanese moleskine style) for the sketchbook tour. now to start & finish it by january 2011… ready. set. GO!

i have a lot of work ahead of me… but i posted this progress shot because the next part i need to figure out how to draw is my weakness… her hair. let’s hope i figure something out tonight or tomorrow so i can get this thing moving faster.

this is my finished portrait for my book in molyX portrait party 2.
i kind of goofed when i made my sign-in page and the marker bled through to the first page - so i had to patch it with something, luckily i had some scrapbook paper handy that matched what i was going for pretty well.
i’m happy how it turned out given the circumstances.
